Garage Updates

Spring is here, and we’re feeling it. It’s that magical time when the sun shows up a bit more, the greens start popping up in the valley, and we start dreaming about summer at the Garage. We’ve got lots to share!

Local blueberries incoming

We’ve just connected with a new local, organic blueberry farm and are already dreaming up how to work them into our baking and smoothies. It’s gonna be good.

What’s growing right now in the Valley?

This is the time of year where we start getting those first fresh greens from our local farms — and honestly, it’s one of our favorite parts of spring. Right now, we’re seeing:

  • Choi, bok choi, and oak choi
  • Baby kale & baby chard
  • Spinach, parsley, and arugula

It’s the kind of stuff that tastes like it was picked that morning… because it was. We’re using it in everything right now!

Have you seen this?

We recently filmed our first ever “Cookies & Conversation” video with Zoe from Cowichan Valley Youth Services. Cowichan Valley Youth Services (CVYS) is an incredible local organization that offers free counselling and support to youth in our community. They create a safe, welcoming space for young people to be heard, supported, and empowered — and they’ve been doing this work for over 50 years.

We’re proud to support the amazing things they do. In our video we made cookies, talked about youth in our community, and how we can all do a bit more.

Wait… did we just go viral?

We made a fun little reel where we changed the name of the “Americano” to the Canadiano… and the internet went crazy with  20 million views!

We didn’t expect it — we were just having fun — but seeing people all over the world laughing with us (and a few definitely not laughing 😀) was wild.

If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out on our Instagram — and feel free to order a Canadiano next time you're in.

Meet the Green Team

We’ve got a fresh new crew of folks focused on waste reduction, composting, sourcing, and keeping our systems dialed.

They’re passionate, they’re organized, and they care.

We had a circular economy assessment done on the Garage and this team will be putting that report to work!

Looking back & looking ahead...

The past few months have been full, we’ve been:

  • Refining systems
  • Welcoming new team members
  • Connecting deeper with the community

We are getting everything ready for a busy summer at the Garage!

What's been popular lately?

  • Cowichan Sourdough
  • Roasted Vegetable Sandwich with a Side Soup
  • Garage Dragon Bowl
  • And always… Matchas any way you like!
